Hemorrhoid Cream For Eye Bags?

If you have eye bags, youve probably heard about this old remedy that was endorsed by your own mom or grandmother. Go to the nearest drugstore and grab a tube of Preparation H. This hemorrhoid cream will supposedly get rid of puffy eyes fast.

No one knows who started this silly rumor but it is mentioned in model Diane Irons popular book The Worlds Best Kept Beauty Secrets. Irons claims that many middle-aged celebrities use Preparation H to maintain their youthful looks. Supermodels reportedly swear by it, saying that this hemorrhoid cream gives them an instant lift when they are bothered by eye bags.

Apparently, the people who use Preparation H believe that if it can shrink hemorrhoids, it will also work for bulging eye bags. Promoters claim this is due to two ingredients: shark oil and a live yeast cell derivative called Bio-Dyne Skin Respiratory Factor. But the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) didnt buy that story and ordered the manufacturer Whitehall-Robbins Inc. to reformulate the product.

At present, US versions of Preparation H no longer carry these ingredients but youll still find them in the Canadian and European versions. Instead, the American version has phenylephrine HCI 0.25 % - a vasoconstrictor that some dermatologists said will constrict capillaries and temporarily reduce dark circles and puffy eyes.

Dr. Debra Jaliman, a clinical instructor in dermatology at New Yorks Mount Sinai School of Medicine said phenylephrine tightens facial skin by temporarily constricting blood vessels and shrinking under-eye tissue - the same way it constricts and shrinks rectal blood vessels and tissue. However, a Whitehall representative said Preparation H is not meant for the eyes and shouldnt be applied there.

Since the skin around the eyes is thinner, its more sensitive and prone to adverse reactions that can occur from the ingredients found in Preparation H. There have been reports of irritation, burning, and itching among others.

I would not recommend using Preparation H for puffy eyes. Every time I tried it, it burned and I had to rush to the sink and wash it off with cold water. The skin around the eye is very thin and sensitive, unlike the other area Preparation H is used for, said one user in eHow.com.

Instead of seeing miracles, all I saw was that my face was turning redder and redder and the pouches under my eyes were getting bigger instead of smaller! Finally, when my face started burning and itching all over, I washed off the darn stuff as fast as I could. For two days, my face was swollen and raw... hardly the results I had expected! Believe me, I was so disappointed by the failure of Preparation H to do what Irons claimed it would do that I vowed never again to use it. Not on my face and certainly not on any other part of my body! said another disappointed user at MyDoctor2.com.

If you are tormented by eye bags, dark circles, swollen eyes or fine lines and wrinkles, dont rely on hearsay or your next door neighbor for advice. One product worth looking into is Eyevive, the safe and natural way to reverse the signs of aging. Eyevive moisturizes and strengthens the skin around your eyes to help reduce eye bags, wrinkles, and other skin problems.

3 Exceptional European Automakers

3 Exceptional European Automakers

When you think of exceptional cars that are built in Europe, does your mind run strictly to cars made by Rolls Royce, BMW, or Mercedes? Perhaps Jaguar and Lamborghini come to mind as well. Each of these makes deserve all the accolades given to them. Still, there are three makes that are, for various reasons, exceptional. Lets take a look at Volvo, Volkswagen, and Audi, the three makes featured in this article.

For a country of just nine million to produce one automaker would be amazing enough. To lay claim to two automakers is simply phenomenal. Both Volvo and Saab are from this particular country which is Sweden. Now a part of Ford Motor Company, Volvo has greatly influenced the automobile industry over the years. Safety standards that had been universally low elsewhere are much more appreciated with Volvo. Front end crumple zones, reinforced roofs and specially designed interiors have all had their origin with Volvo. Out of these high safety standards have come a line of cars that are, indeed, some of the best built and safest cars on the road. Fortunately, through Volvos leadership, many automakers around the world have incorporated Volvos high safety standard. This is what makes Volvo exceptional in my eyes.

The company that brought to the world the first peoples car, the Beetle, is also exceptional. First designed in Germany during the 1930s, the Beetle survived World War II and was one of the most mass produced and loved cars in the world. From the 1950s forward the Beetle managed to make motorized transportation available to people who otherwise could not afford a car. From college students in the US to migrant workers in Mexico and from the gritty cities of Holland to the Irish farmlands, the Beetle made owning a car affordable the majority of the masses. Even after importation to the US ceased during the 1970s, the Beetle was produced for another generation and sold in Mexico.

Without drawing out the point too far, the term that best describes Audis quattro technology is superior handling. Perhaps that is an understatement but when Audi introduced quattro all wheel drive the company threw the gauntlet down and told the rest of the auto making world that quattro was the standard by which all luxury sedans would be judged. Audi's quattro technology has given the company such a huge advantage over competitors that over the years it has been banned from certain types of racing. Indeed, Audis quattro technology provides continuous traction long past when other road handling schematics have reached their threshold.

So, there you have it. Three truly exceptional automobiles from the European continent, exceptional in ways, perhaps, that should be labeled as extraordinary.

Scholarship Myths You Should Know About In Advance

Scholarship Myths You Should Know About In Advance

Although there are many scholarships available every year to college students of all ages, there are still many myths about scholarships that discourage students from even applying in the first place. Unfortunately, this restricts the amount of college education funding that those students can often receive. So here are some of the myths about college scholarships that you need to know about in order to have the facts.

1. The first myth that is widely believed about college scholarships is that they are usually only available to those who have the highest grade averages, such as a "A". This is just simply not true. Although many scholarship programs do list having a good academic record as a contributing factor in receiving the scholarship, there are actually several other factors that are taken into consideration as well.

The truth is that even those who have a "B" or "C" grade average can often qualify for many scholarships because of other factors instead. For instance, many scholarship programs place a high priority on a student's involvement in extracurricular activities, especially those in the community. To them, this helps indicate that you are a well rounded individual who will do well in a college environment and are seeking personal advancement. So if you want to qualify for college scholarships, try to involve yourself in activities that allow you to give something back to the community and expand your horizons.

2. Another college scholarship myth is that you generally cannot get a scholarship if you do not have some sort of financial need, and that middle class students are usually unable to receive scholarships.

Again, this is simply not true. Although some scholarship programs are based on need, there are many that aren't. In fact, quite a few scholarships are based more on merit than on need. This means that a good combination of academic performance as well as extracurricular activities that indicate personal growth can often qualify a student for being awarded the scholarship even if you come from a middle class family.

3. A commonly held scholarship myth is that there are billions of scholarship dollars that go unused every single year. While it is true that there is some scholarship money that goes unclaimed, this is usually because the scholarship qualifications are very rigid and narrow in nature and simply were not filled for that reason. What this means for the average student is that there is a lot of competition for the scholarships that are readily available, and you should start applying for them as soon as possible in order to get a head start. And applying for as many as you possibly can qualify for, and handle at one time, is also a good practice.

4. Another myth about scholarships that can actually cost you money is that there are programs out there that will do all the work for you so that you don't have to do anything to apply for college scholarships. Although there are organizations that advertise this, they are usually scams that are set up to separate college students from their hard earned money rather than help them get the scholarships that they need. So if you come across any scholarship program that claims to do all the work for you, or asks for any kind of payment or credit card information in advance, be aware that there is a good chance that this type of program is a scam that should be avoided.

Hopefully, by being aware of the various college scholarship myths that are in circulation today, you can be better prepared to get the scholarship funding that you really need.

The Power of Positive Thinking

The Power of Positive Thinking

What do you see when you look in the mirror? Have you ever caught yourself making negative comments or thinking negative thoughts about the reflection looking back at you? Maybe you are frustrated because you havent made much progress at reaching your fitness goals. Maybe you have thought about leading a fit and healthy lifestyle but have a million excuses why it is simply impossible for you, a very busy person, to actually achieve fitness success. I have one word for you. Shhhhhhhh!

Your body can hear you, whether it is thoughts or words, it can hear you. It knows when you make excuses. I cant work out because Im too tired. I cant exercise because Im too busy. I cant go for a walk because I have too many other things to do. I cant change my eating habits because I have to work a lot and my only alternative is fast food. Ive never succeeded at losing weight before, so I wont be able to do it this time either. If you have ever filled your head with negative thoughts or words such as these, and then failed at achieving your fitness goals, it is no wonder! It is time to stop setting yourself up for failure, and start telling yourself that you can do it!

A positive mental attitude is a key component to achieving your ideal physique, and to leading the fit and healthy lifestyle that you desire. In other aspects of life you are told to believe in yourself and visualize success, when you do this your dreams and goals can and will be accomplished. The same concept can be applied to your physical body too!

Visualizing fitness success is an invaluable tool that you can use to get the results that you want. What does your ideal fit and healthy body look like? How are you going to feel every day when your body is in shape? What will your attitude be? How will your confidence and energy be different? Take some time and really picture what you want for yourself, and then acknowledge that you have the power to make these visions a reality.

When you have a clear picture in mind of what you want to look and feel like, the next step is to write it down. Your fitness vision can be just a couple of sentences summing up the picture in your mind of the ideal fit and healthy you. Be sure that your vision is personal and use words that are powerful and motivating to you! Here is an example to get you started. My fitness vision in the next year is to lose weight by eating properly and exercising regularly so that I can improve my health and be proud of what I see in the mirror!

Repeating daily affirmations is another technique you can utilize as you develop a positive outlook on your health and fitness levels. When you practice making affirmative statements about yourself, the key is to always use the present tense. Instead of saying, I will be fit and healthy, you say I am fit and healthy. Make a list of affirmations regarding your fitness goals and repeat them to yourself every day!

The power of positive thinking and maintaining a positive mental attitude may be just the ingredient you are missing in order to progress towards your fitness goals! When you stop the excuses and start telling yourself that you can and will make the necessary changes to your eating and exercise habits, you will break down the mental barriers that are holding you back. Change that poor mental attitude into a positive one and you will be headed down the right path to a fit and healthy you.

Why Citizen Watches Are Becoming A Standard In The Watch Industry

Citizen watches were first introduced to the public in 1924. Up until now watches were just awkward things you wore to be able to tell time. Citizen watches changed their watches by creating a watch that was light weight and was light on the wrist and could have all the features and more of the old. Since they changed they have become known as one of the biggest watch making companies in the whole world.

The main reason why they have a place in the watch market today is because their specific brand has quality touches to it. Not only was this watch water proof you could dive with it to depths nobody else in that time had done with a watch. Today you see these diving watches everywhere and it was from the company citizen why they are flourishing today.

To say again this is only from Citizen, the other watch companies may have something like it but its not the real thing until its a Citizen watch. For Citizen, creating the watches they have today has made their company what it is now. If they wouldnt have taken over the industry then they wouldnt be what they are today and would have the most selling watches. They are still and are still going to be in the future the top selling watches because they are affordable and are of great quality. So go out today and get your citizen watch before you forget and buy a watch that isnt quality and isnt a citizen watch go now.

British Formula One racing team WilliamsF1 announced last Thursday, July 27, that Toyota Motors will be the official engine supplier of WillilamsF1 for the next three consecutive years. Celebrities and Their Diamond Engagement Rings

Celebrities and Their Diamond Engagement Rings

What better way to show the world that you are in love than by the act of giving and receiving a diamond engagement ring? With many actresses and other famous women sporting bigger and sparklier diamond rings, celebrity engagements have become a delight for the jewelry lover. The size of the diamond is not necessarily the key as to what makes some of these rings so famous and recognizable, rather it seems to be a combination of the engagement ring itself and the famous lady it is associated with.

The history of diamond engagement rings

Maximillan I of Austria gave the first diamond engagement ring on record to Mary of Burgundy in 1477. He had the ring commissioned to unite their two houses and make their marriage a unifying symbol to the country.

The smallest diamond engagement ring ever made was given to Princess Mary who was married by proxy to the Dauphin of France in the year 1518. Princess Mary was two years old at the time.

Throughout history diamond engagement rings have become larger, more elaborate, and have included a wide variety of other jewels and metals. Diamond engagement rings settings can be made of silver, platinum, white or yellow gold or a mixture of these elements.

Famous ladies and their engagement rings

Celebrities and other famous people influence the look and style of many aspects in fashion and also set trends. Diamond engagement rings are no exception to this rule. The following is a partial list of the famous ladies and their equally famous engagement rings:

Royalty:

  • Queen Elizabeth II received an engagement ring from Prince Phillip that was made from diamonds from his mother's tiara.
  • Grace Kelly was given a 12 carat emerald-cut diamond engagement ring from Prince Rainier.
  • Lady Diana was engaged with a ring made of an 18 carat blue oval sapphire that was circled by fourteen diamonds.

Actresses:

  • Elizabeth Taylor was engaged to her third husband, Michael Todd, with an emerald cut diamond that weighed almost 30 carats. However, she is more known for her other pieces of jewelry, one more striking than the other: the 39 carat Krupp diamond, the 69.42 carat pear-shaped Taylor-Burton diamond and the 17th century heart-shaped Taj Mahal diamond.
  • Priscilla was engaged to Elvis with a 3.5 carat diamond engagement ring that was circled by another 21 smaller diamonds and diamond chips.
  • Sharon Stone was given a three diamond, 3 1/2 carat emerald-cut diamond engagement ring by Phil Bronstien.
  • Catherine Zeta-Jones' promise to Michael Douglas was finalized with a 10 carat antique marquise diamond estimated at amost $2 million.
  • Joan Collins got a heart-shaped diamond ring in a nineteenth-century setting from husband Percy Gibson.

Pop stars:

  • Madonna received from Guy Ritchie an antique Edwardian three-stone diamond ring with a decorative platinum band. The Neil Lane ring was supposed to represent their family: mother, father and son Rocco.
  • In the case of Toni Braxton, drummer Keri Lewis designed a stunning 4.5 three-stone diamond ring with an oval-shaped center stone and 2 heart-shaped diamonds on the sides.
  • Paris Hilton, even though not a pop star but a diva anyway, received 2 diamond engagement rings from billionaire Paris Latsis, a $5 million 24 carat canary diamond ring and a $2.1 million 15 carat white diamond ring.
  • Britney Spears has two engagement rings also: one that she bought for herself before the wedding, a $40,000 4 carat cushion-cut diamond ring with a platinum pave setting, and one that she received 9 month after the marriage from husband Kevin Federline.
  • Christina Aguilera became engaged to Jordan Bratman after he presented a $54,000 20-carat diamond engagement ring designed by jeweler Stephen Webster.
  • Whitney Houston sports a stunning 4 carat oval-shaped center stone with trillions on the sides which she received from Bobby Brown.

Replica diamond engagement rings

Of course there is the very famous pink diamond ring that Ben Affleck gave to Jennifer Lopez. This 6 carat radiant shaped pink diamond quickly caught the attention of the public and has become a highly sought after replica. It is completed with a platinum band as well as three baguette white diamonds on each side. The pink diamond engagement ring is reported to have been purchased for $1.2 million in 2002. The ring, while easily identified is also very feminine and modern looking.

Replicas of the famous pink diamond ring are now available for a moderate price. The cost of the replicas depends on the quality of the stones and the materials used in reproducing the pink diamond engagement ring.

Some replicas are styled as more antique diamond engagement rings. These rings have an everlasting quality and symbolize tradition and heritage. The recent engagement of Camilla Parker Bowles in February of 2005 featured such an antique engagement ring. The platinum ring has an emerald-cut center diamond with three diamond baguettes on each side. This ring originally belonged to the Queen Mother and is believed to be valued at over $1 million.

Since few people can afford the original item, there will always be a market for replicas of these one of a kind diamond engagement rings. The quality of the replicas varies, as does the price. It is important to note that the styles of diamond engagement rings that are popular with celebrities will soon become the styles that are sought after by the not quite so rich and famous.

Bachelor Degree - Music

Bachelor Degree - Music

There are without a doubt many very talented people in the world. Some are artists, some are musicians and others dance. Music is such a great part of our culture that you would think there would be more opportunities for musicians. Ironically, choosing a career in music is one of the hardest things a person can do, even with a bachelor degree, Aside from going into teaching, the rest of the musical field is very competitive and very hard to get your foot in the door. So does a bachelor degree in music really mean anything? Well, we'll leave that debate for those who feel like waging it. For the purpose of this article, we'll just give you a basic idea of what to expect from a Bachelor of Arts program in music.

The first year of your bachelor degree in music usually revolves around an introduction to music itself. You'll learn the many different forms of classic music and cover the various eras. You'll probably learn about a number of composers like Back, Mozart and Chopin. You won't begin to get into any in depth analysis of any of the material. It's simply to give you a brief history of music and aquatint you with the different styles. Rarely does an intro course cover modern music such as jazz, rock and blues.

Along with your music course you'll have to take the usual requirements such as English, History, maybe a math or science. Each college has different requirements for their bachelor program, regardless of what you major in. So it is difficult to generalize in this area. The common theme however, is that you usually only have to take a minimum of those "other" courses.

After you have taken you introductory music courses, which are usually all of your first year, you then move into whatever your specialty is going to be. This can cover anything from composition to performance.

If you're going to major in music composition, you're going to have to take a number of courses focusing on composition. These begin as very basic and then, as they progress, become quite advanced. Your early courses will simply focus on how to read and write music. You'll learn what a musical staff is, what the notes are, time signatures, tempos, etc. As the courses become more advanced, you will begin to actually write your own compositions. Your final independent project before graduation will usually involved writing a major piece of work such as a sonata or concerto.

For those going into music performance, it's a little more difficult. They don't teach you an instrument in college. You have to already be fairly proficient with whatever instrument you play. They will actually audition you to see if you qualify for their bachelor program. If you do, the remainder of your time in school will involve learning quite a number of pieces until graduation when you have to perform a major piece of work in front of a lot of people.

And then, after all of this and you actually graduate, good luck in finding work.

Teaching music may be the only thing you get to do.

Choosing a Perfect Wedding Ring

Choosing a Perfect Wedding Ring

Selecting wedding rings is one of the most important decisions you have to make for your wedding. A wedding ring is not just a piece of jewelry; it is a sign of your love to your partner. And you are going to wear it for many years. How do you select the rings that are perfect for you and your loved one?

It is unlikely that both the bride and the groom will like the same style of rings, so it is important to find a compromise that would make both sides happy.

It might go against tradition, but shopping for a wedding ring together as a couple makes cense. This way both of you can see available styles, and find something that each likes.

What are your choices for wedding rings?

When it comes to wedding rings, choices are endless. Modern jewelers offer a great variety of materials and styles. You can get rings made of yellow or white gold, platinum, titanium or sterling silver. Each material has its advantages and disadvantages. Yellow gold is a classic wedding ring or band material. Titanium is durable, modern and fashionable, but along with platinum titanium rings are awfully expensive. Sterling silver is the cheapest, but it is not very durable, so if you plan to wear your wedding band on daily basis silver is not a good choice.

There are many styles as well - plain bands, antique and vintage wedding rings, Celtic style bands. You can get rings without any gem stones, or with jewels. Most popular of course are diamonds, you can get a single diamond ring or a diamond-encrusted band.

If you can't agree on the style that both like, consider buying not matching wedding rings. After all, everybody has different taste, and you will have to respects another person's preferences. Getting different wedding bands becomes more popular in the recent years; because this way each person can get the ring she or he likes the most.

Buying wedding rings at reasonable price

Wedding rings are not hard to find items; every jewelry shop has some to offer. Most stores have hundreds of different styles and catalogues for you to order your rings. So be prepared to go shopping for your rings in advance, so you have time for ordering the bands you like, rather than buying what is available in the store.

If you are looking to save money, department stores usually have good collections of wedding rings at reasonable prices.

You can also look for wedding rings online. There are many jewelry stores that sell wedding bands over the internet. The prices are usually better than in ordinary stores. And of course you can search many places sitting in your chair, instead of running all over the city chasing jewelry shops. After you find the material and the style of ring you like, check several online jewelry shops for prices.

The Coaches' Clipboard

The Coaches' Clipboard

Watching professional and collegiate athletes exhibit their talent and athleticism is always a joyous occasion for me. I absolutely marvel at some of the things they are capable of doing. It makes me think how did they ever get to be so good? Did they just wake up one morning and decide to be amazingly good at what they do? Well, that probably has something to do with it. I mean, natural ability plays a large role in the lives of such incredible athletes. So, in a sense, yes, they did wake up one morning with a knack for athletics. But, to take your game from good to great, you have to put in the requisite time and effort in the form of practice.

Whether you are a coach looking to lead his or her team to a winning season this upcoming year or a basketball player dedicated to honing your skills in order to raise your game to a whole new level, there are certain things you need to implement into your game. Below is a list of some of the basics to a solid basketball team. In short, these skills are what coaches strive for, and they look for players who can execute them.

-Half-court Offense, Half-court Defense, Transition Offense and Transition Defense

-Pre-game Routine, Game Strategy, Good in-game Decision Making

-Running the Point, Playing in the Low Post, Footwork Fundamentals and Ball Handling

-Passing Fundamentals, Shooting Techniques, Free-throw Shooting, Running the Floor and Cutting

-Rebounding and Setting Screens

There is just so much to the game of basketball. It is absolutely incredible. Perfecting all of these may seem like an overwhelming task, but there is a way to do it. One way is to simply get out on the court and try it. And to a certain extent, that is how the best players in the world do it. However, that is not all they do. In addition to grueling practices and frequent games, they watch hours upon hours of film, showing them what they are doing right and what they are doing wrong. Then they fix it.

My suggestion to any up-and-coming player or coach is to get your hands on any and every type of Instructional DVD or Video and let the learning begin. Putting in a little extra work will be the difference in your team's results this year. Regardless of whether or not you think your team or your individual skills are up to par, you can always improve.

For information on instructional DVD's and videos or other in-dpeth resources on basketball fundamentals, go to The Coaches' Clipboard and find out.

Home Gyms for Total Fitness Help the Body and the Mind

Soccer Team Positions and Strategies With 3-5-2 Set Up

Soccer Team Positions and Strategies With 3-5-2 Set Up

3-5-2,
Defense;
3, defenders,

These three are very confident that they can handle a lone striker or two forwards. They are also reliant on a good defensive midfield.

On the attack these players will play wide positions. On the defense these players will be more compact and allow the outside midfields to aid in the wider positions.

At times the inside mid-fielders will "show" for the ball. This creates an additional attack from the centre of the pitch as the mid-fielders become out let players. They are trying to convert the play by maintaining possession.

5, midfielders,

Two outside/wing players who dominate the sides of the field. They also act as attackers creating many scoring opportunities for their teams.

These are hard working players and a usually super-fit. However sometimes after a few runs on the side these can switch with inside players for a rest.

If this is possible, the team can keep their opponents confused and always looking for changing plays and positions.

This type of positonal play can not be defended by a man on man team defense. This requires a good zone defense and a constantly communicative team.

The 2 inside players are usually defensive in their roles but will become part of the attack when their team has possession. They will generally use the central midfielder to create plays and control the tempo of the game.

The single central midfielder is usually the one who makes the play and communicartes to the team the attacking possibilities.

This individual can also be considered the captal of the team.

Forwards;

These are the main ggoooooooooooalll scoring machines. The ones who react to the ball quickly and are able to shoot from any place on the field. These individuals are also trying to create space for each other and many more scoring opportunities.

To be effective they should work closely together as a team and pair. To this extent they are sometimes called "twin strikers".

They are also responsible for creating space by making the defenders mark them.

They make the defense leave their zonal resposibilities whereby taking them "out of the game".

The strikers also make the defenders tired because of the level of concentration that the defenders have to deal with.

Parenting Tips: Struggles to Win Make Both Sides Lose

Parenting Tips: Struggles to Win Make Both Sides Lose

We keep getting into power struggles with our teenager. Even when we win, it feels like we all lose. What can we do differently without backing down?

A. That's an excellent and often-asked question. You are right on target when you say that it feels like everyone loses, even when you "win."

Most power struggles between parents and teen-agers are a lose/lose proposition.

Remember the commercial a few years back that had the two rams repeatedly butting heads on top of a mountain? The slogan was "Dodge Trucks are ram tough!" Even though they have horns to butt heads with, it always looked quite painful to me.

I believe it's the same way when parents and teens butt heads.

When parents and teens butt heads

So where in the world did we get the idea that the parent-teen relationship is a struggle in which one side has to win and the other side lose?

One of the greatest sources of power struggles is the belief that not only does each side have to win each battle, they have to battle over each and every issue that arises.

The parents have bought into the mistaken belief that they always have to "win" in order to be good parents.

In the passion, exuberance and "wisdom" of youth, the teen believes that every battle is a fight for independence that must be won at all costs.

Body Wraps - Can I Really Lose Fat?

Body Wraps - Can I Really Lose Fat?

History
Body wraps have been around for thousands of years, dating all the way back to the ancient Egyptians. Body wraps at that time were utilized in body sculpting practices and primarily worked to stimulate circulation. Over the past 3 decades, with the increase in science in the cosmetic industry, many people are curious if body wraps can really be used to rid the body of fat. Body wraps have become one of the hottest cosmetic tools in the world and are becoming increasingly popular in the salon and spa industries.

Types of Body Wraps
There are essentially two different types of body wraps on the market today. Both types employing a large emphasis on moisturizing and conditioning the skin. However, the primary function of the two types is widely different. The first type of body wrap, creates inch loss primarily through water elimination. These water elimination wraps are very useful for a big event, where a person would like to look their best for a short period of time, but the inch loss is strictly temporary. This technique is similar to that which could be obtained through excessive sweating during exercise or time spent in a sauna. The second type of body wrap creates inch loss by helping the lymphatic system to rid the body of stored toxins which were introduced to the body through poor dieting, the environment, and pollutants. These wraps stimulate a process called lymphatic drainage, where toxins and fatty acids from your cells are released into the capillaries and eliminated along with the bodys waste. Drinking large quantities of water during this type of body wrap is common to help facilitate the detoxification and fat loss. Although the results of this type of wrap may not be immediately as drastic, the inch loss obtained from this type is often permanent.

The shape, size, and ingredients used in the body wraps can vary tremendously. Some helpful things to consider when shopping for a body wrap are:

List of Ingredients -- all natural is always best for skin sensitivity
Topical Inclusion -- always easier if the ointment comes previously applied and not separate from the wrap
Application Technique -- convenient if you can apply within privacy of your own home

Wrap-Up
The basic understanding by many industry experts, is that fat loss can be facilitated through a body wrap regiment, however, the majority of wraps available today are simply diuretics that remove excess water weight. Many industry experts also agree that body wraps should be used in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise program to achieve true results. Simply using a body wrap will not keep the inches off, if diet and/or exercise regiments do not change.

Purchasing A Luxury Watch

Purchasing A Luxury Watch

As consumers, we are highly receptive to the word luxury; luxury cars, luxury boats, luxury vacations, luxury homes all come attached to visions of high-end quality and instant status recognition. Included in these sought after luxury items is the luxury watch; part timepiece, part style accessory.

Since the inception of the wristwatch owners have found new and better ways to showcase its beauty encasing it in diamonds, adorning it with gems, and wrapping it in silver and gold of every variety. The luxury watch is held in just as much esteem today, its purchase considered an investment much as a ring or other precious jewelry.

For many, the luxury watch is simply about style. While less expensive watches are swapped to match different outfits, a luxury watch is classic as an accessory it goes with anything and everything. Further, in many cases the luxury watch such as a designer watch is considered something of a status symbol, much like a high-end vehicle. It tells of the owners success and ability to treat themselves to the finer things.

For others, the luxury watch is an investment in the future; an heirloom that can be handed down from generation to generation. Perhaps the owner received their own luxury watch through the passing down from a family member. In this case, the watch is esteemed for sentimental as well as monetary value.

While a luxury watch can be expensive, it is wise to remember that you are purchasing more than just a watch. You are purchasing a commitment from the manufacturers to uphold their standards by maintaining the high quality operation of your watch. Should you have repair needs in the future you can return to the manufacturer or authorized dealer and be assured that your watch will be treated with the same care with which it was made.

A luxury watch is more than just an ordinary wristwatch; it is a piece of jewelry that reflects your personality and personal style and can be enjoyed for a lifetime.

The Truth behind the Online Auction Site

The Truth behind the Online Auction Site

If you have been online for very long you have most likely visited one of the many online auction sites that are available today. Online auction sites are responsible for introducing millions of people to the internet each and every year. There are really two main reasons for people using an online auction site buying or selling. This article will take a peek at both sides of the online auction world.

If you are trying to get rid of your junk laying around the house you may have turned to one of the most interesting concepts in ages the online auction site concept. Online auctions are great for selling your unwanted items through the use of an online auction site such as eBay or Yahoo auctions.

There are a few tricks and tips you might use if you are trying to sell your items for the highest possible price. The first tip you need to master is by properly showing your items through pictures. You can dramatically increase your auctions effectiveness by taking clear and well thought out pictures for each item you are listing.

The next trick for selling more items in an online auction site is to use some key words in your title and description. Perhaps you are selling a diamond ring or a watch and you want to get the most value for your listing buck. The best way to do this is by adding some popular key words such as (not Rolex) to the listing title. The word Rolex will be found if someone is searching for that brand of watch. Your watch might not be the exact brand they are searching for, but the search results will still display your item because you have included a popular search term in your title. Although your item may not be the same brand there is nothing wrong with mentioning other brand names in your description, but you should include the word (not).

If you are looking to become a buyer with online auction sites the best way to make some nice buys are to search for misspelled auction items that may not have as many bids. You can also use software programs called snipe software that will bid at the very end of an online auction and win the item for you at the lowest possible price.

Online auction sites are a fun and often profitable place to visit. If you have not yet discovered this fascinating world on the internet you should take some time to do the research into it and enjoy the many benefits that online auction sites have to offer.

Egyptian Jewelry

Egyptian Jewelry

As Egypt is the cradle of civilization, no doubt that it is also the cradle of the arts and the home of craftsmanship. Personal ornaments appear to have been among the very first objects on which the invention and ingenuity of man were exercised. In the beginning, natural objects, such as small shells, dried berries, small perforated stones, feathers of variegated colors, were combined by stringing or tying together to ornament the head, neck, arms and legs, the fingers, and even the toes.

The earliest examples of Egyptian jewelry which have come down to us are those of the Pre dynastic period (more than 3000 years B.C.), where the Egyptians had been making beads and ornaments of semi precious stones such as amethyst, lapis lazuli, cornelian, Quartz, Garnet, Turquoise , and other objects. They also used man made materials such as glazed objects and colored glass imitating semi precious stones. Most of the materials used in making these beads were chosen for their color symbolization or amulet significance especially the ones used in making funerary jewelry, as they had a religious and magical significance in the Egyptian ancient world by protecting the wearer from evil. Turquoise for example was a symbol of fertility, good luck, and as protection from the evil eye.

So as it appears, ancient Egyptians wore various shapes and kinds of jewelry, some of which are:

  • Bracelets and Bangles: these ornaments often came in matching sets. Ancient Egyptians also used the same term for describing anklets.
  • Finger rings: its earliest form was as simple as rings made of stone. Later, rings were made of small strings of beads, gold-foil bands and wires of copper or silver closed by twisting the ends together.
  • Amulets of semi-precious stones: these were charms worn by the living or placed on a mummy to ward off evil spirits or bring good luck.
  • Cartouches: These were elliptical symbols encircling the inscribed birth and coronation names of the king. They were usually worn as pendants.
  • Pectorals: These are large pieces of jewelry, usually in the form of trapezoids, worn on the chest.
  • Necklaces: These were widely used among wealthy people, and were usually made of precious metals such as gold and silver, and decorated with colored glass beads and semi-precious stones.
  • Earrings: Theses were worn by both men and women.
  • Crowns: These were reserved for royalty. They were made of gold or silver and decorated with semi-precious stones.
  • Belts: These included waist belts and belts with hanging vertical straps ornamented with colored beads. They were usually found in tombs.
  • Vests: This kind of jewelry is only found in ancient Egyptian jewelry. It was worn around the chest. It was usually made of gold or of gold-plated metal. Even when it was made of a cheap material, it was painted yellow to give a golden impression.
Gold and silver Egyptian jewelry: The real start of Egyptian jewelry was when ancient Egyptians had access to precious metals, for even in ancient times, Egypt was envied for its underground treasures. At first they got these metals from the Eastern Desert and Nubia , later too as tribute and spoils of war from Syria and the north. Mining was often carried out by convicts under military control. This was a dangerous endeavor from which many of the laborers probably never returned.

Up until the Middle Kingdom, silver was considered as valuable to the Egyptians as gold, but after that time frame, Egyptians seem to have become fanatical over gold. Egypt was richer in gold than any other country of the region. Statues, furniture, vessels and jewelry, above all in the royal household and the temples, were often created from these precious metals.

Jewelry working techniques:

The Egyptians knew two kinds of bonding metals: welding and soldering. As early as the Middle Kingdom little pieces of jewelry were welded together. Soldering was known since the 4th dynasty at least. The work of Egyptian gold and silversmiths also included Hammered work, engraved, incised and chased work. The combinations of layers of gold plates, together with colored stones were also present. Gold was also widely used in gilding other less precious materials such as wood and stone. Cloisonn and filigree were already known at that time. The cloisonn technique was used in pectorals and pendants. It created outlines of figures and symbols with gold wires that were then soldered to sheets of beaten gold and later inlaid with colored stones or glass. Filigree, a delicate, lacelike ornamental work of gold or silver wire, was mostly used in buckles and clasps of gold. Granulation was the technique of creating various designs by soldering very tiny gold balls to the surface of gold sheets. The stones used in the inlays were considered to have magical properties based on their color.

Egyptian craftsmen:

The standard of work of the Egyptian goldsmiths was high from the beginning of the pharaonic age. Craftsmen in ancient Egypt were usually trained and skilled laborers. They were often well-respected in the community and had a comfortable lifestyle. Yet every craftsman's lifestyle and social standing depended on the quality of his skills and experience. Most craftsmen worked in temple workshops or palace workshops, for gold and silver jewelry were mostly reserved for the use of the gods, the kings and, to a lesser extent, the rich and powerful. Very few Egyptian commoners possessed any gold jewelry.

The art of jewelry making reached its peak in the Middle Kingdom, when Egyptians mastered the technical methods and accuracy in making pieces of jewelry. During the New Kingdom, this art flourished in an unprecedented way because of regular missions to the Eastern Desert and Nubia to extract metals.

Famous discoveries:

It is to the tombs of ancient people that we must look for evidence of the early existence of Egyptian jewelry. The jewelry of the ancient Egyptians has been preserved for us in their tombs, sometimes in, and sometimes near the sarcophagi which contained the embalmed bodies of the wearers. This is due to the ancient Egyptian funerary beliefs that required that the mummified body should be wearing the finest jewelry. A large number of such jewelry was found on the mummies; for example, wreaths, crowns, or hair bands. On the head or wig, they fixed different types of ornaments, such as small roses, golden bands, and some simple bands of jewelry. There were also different types of belts, including waist belts and belts with hanging vertical straps ornamented with colored beads. Other types of jewelry included earrings, bracelets, anklets, rings, and necklaces.

The earliest known example of Egyptian jewelry goes back to the first dynasty. It is a set of four bracelets found in the tomb of Zer at Abydos . By the Twelfth Dynasty the jeweler's skill had attained something as near perfection as is possible in an imperfect world. For technical skill, delicacy of handling and for the love of nature which the design reveals there is nothing more fascinating than the two coronets of Khnemit, representing floral garlands used at festivals and including most of the flowers and fruits grown in Egyptian gardens One of the best known examples of the magnificence of Egyptian jewelry is the jewelry of Tutankhamen's time (18 th dynasty). Its treasures include gold filigree and granulated gold-work, and you hardly know what, amid such splendors, to admire most. The gold mask of the adolescent king, the headdress and collar inlaid with colored glass, or the smaller specimens of the ancient jewelers' art including the pectoral ornaments inlaid background of cloisonn. Tutankhamun's collection is the most complete royal treasure ever discovered.

If we have to speak of the production of jewelry as a modern art industry, we should say that nowadays, the craftsman of the twentieth century follows methods and traditions which his distant ancestors would recognize and understand, as these techniques come down to us from very far days.

Chevy Camaro: Build It and We Will Buy It!

Chevy Camaro: Build It and We Will Buy It!

Attention, General Motors! The concept Camaro now making the rounds of U.S. auto shows is a real winner. Keep showing the car, but start making plans to get it built...now! Make no changes to the concept; in other words: keep the boardroom geeks away from the project. Yes, GM is looking at bringing back a venerable nameplate the Chevrolet Camaro. If all goes as planned, a 2009 model Camaro is a strong possibility. Read on for additional interesting tidbits.

Back in the late 1960s, General Motors responded albeit a little late to the wildly successful 1964 1/2 launch of the Ford Mustang. A whole new breed of cars were on the market pony cars thanks to the Mustang and GMs release of the Chevrolet Camaro and the Pontiac Firebird. Indeed, Chrysler and American Motors jumped in too with the Dodge Charger, Plymouth Road Runner, and AMC Javelin competing successfully in a popular automobile segment.

Consumer tastes have changed over the years and the Camaro did not keep up them. Better put, it was GM who did not keep up with the Camaro and it, along with the Firebird, were retired after the 2002 model year. 35 years of Camaro/Firebird history came to a bitter end.

Fortunately for Camaro lovers, it may once again be the hated Mustang that rescues the Camaro. As in the 1960s, GM is witnessing Fords big success with its retro looking Mustang and GM wants a piece of the action. Unlike GM, Ford never retired the Mustang name and, instead, gave it a complete makeover that has galvanized sales.

The Camaro making the rounds of the U.S. auto shows is a real beauty. Taking its styling cues from the 69 Camaro, the proposed 09 Camaro is expected to feature a 6.0L V8 engine paired with a 6 speed manual transmission. The wheels are 21 at the front and 22 at the back, but smaller wheels are likely to be the production standard. In addition, the Camaros interior will hearken back to the original models interior and include its famed twin instrument pod.

With a base V6 available, the standard Camaro may retail for just under $20,000, a highly competitive price for an awesome looking two door coupe. Now, if the powers that be within GM can be persuaded to build the car based on the concept, the Camaro will certainly give the Mustang a run for the money and keep the all new (retro) Dodge Challenger from swiping away Camaro loyalists.

Oh, to dream about big thingsthe Camaro is one car that enthusiasts want to go from concept to completion and soon! GM, are you hearing us?

Dodge: Awesome and Invigorated!

Dodge: Awesome and Invigorated!

If you are a car fan you know that part of the fun of following the market is examining new models as they enter the showroom. There is just something special about a new car: the smell, the look, the price tag! For some 17 million American drivers a new car is in their future, while many others opt for the used car market. Some of the cars on the market today are hot, hot, hot! Lets take a look at several new and future offerings from Dodge.

Thanks in part to new ownership [Daimler Benz purchased the Chrysler Corporation in 1998] a fresh infusion of great looking Dodge models have hit a showroom near you. Additional models are soon to appear and the makeover that Dodge has been receiving is nothing less than astounding. Here are some of my favorites:

Magnum - Who said that a station wagon should resemble a family hauler? The Magnum sure doesnt. With an intimidating grille and a rakish exterior, the Magnum is a true man pleaser while also giving women a bit extra room in the back to haul stuff. Throw in a Hemi and the Magnum truly rocks!

Charger Okay, so the new Charger has four doors. Well, you cant have everything. You can have macho looks, a powerful engine, and a car that is certain to compete with anything that Japan or Germany throws its way. Word has it that DaimlerChrysler is considering a coupe version. Now, wouldnt that be cool!

Caliber - Bye, bye Neon. The Neon served Dodge well, but it isnt in the same caliber as the Caliber. Pun intended. To be introduced in Spring 2006 as a 2007 model, the Caliber will have three engine choices: 1.8, 2.0, and 2.4 I4s, a continuously available transaxle, and all wheel drive. In addition, 2.0L diesel engines will be available outside of the North American market why not here? as DaimlerChrysler sets to introduce the Dodge name into new markets.

Other Dodge vehicles that are getting noticed include the Ram and Dakota pick up trucks, the Durango SUV and the soon to be introduced Dodge Nitro, the divisions version of the compact Jeep Liberty. Oh, yeah, who could forget the 510-hp V10 Viper? Can you say, Corvette beater?

One word you cant associate with Dodge anymore is the word, boring. Exciting cars, trucks, and SUVs for a market craving these types of hot vehicles. I guess the ram insignia really does befit the name.

Lo Carb Diets Can Assist Your Rapid Weight Loss

Lo Carb Diets Can Assist Your Rapid Weight Loss

Lo carb diets are the newest dieting trend, and seem to be effective. Here are some tips for following a balanced lo carb diet:

Eat more fruit and vegetables, aiming for at least five portions a day. Include fruit at breakfast and salad at lunch. Reduce the amount of salt by eating less processed food, such as ready meals, and adding a smaller amount of salt to food. Eat a varied diet. Change your shopping list every week to help keep you out of unhealthy food ruts and make eating more enjoyable. Eat regular meals - although it doesn't matter when you eat your food, a consistent schedule helps most people to control their diet and their weight. Control your portion sizes so that over time, if not necessarily every day, the amount of energy you consume matches your level of activity. Try to be more physically active. Aim for 30 minutes of physical activity on most days of the week. Activity helps to regulate your appetite, and means that you can eat more without gaining weight. Drink alcohol only within sensible limits: not more than 14 units per week for women, and no more than three in any one day, and not more than 21 units per week for men, and no more than four in any one day.

The current most popular fad diet is the Lo Carb or Atkins diet. It restricts carbohydrate rich foods, thereby restricting total daily calories. Phase One of the four in the Atkins Diet consists of between 1400 to 1500 total daily calories. The average adult female consumes around 2200 calories daily and the average adult male consumes around 2800 calories daily. Almost any adult will lose weight if they consume 800 to 1300 fewer calories daily. Phase One of the Atkins Diet also restricts carbohydrate intake to only 20 grams of net carbohydrates daily. The definition of net carbohydrates is total grams of carbohydrates per serving minus dietary fibre per serving. Dietary fibre is the non-digestible remains of plant products found in beans, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.

Carbohydrates are the bodys preferred fuel source. In the near future there will be a recommended dietary allowance, or R.D.A., for carbohydrates of 130 grams daily. 130 grams of carbohydrates our body needs daily is for the proper functioning of the central nervous system and production of red blood cells. Only during Phase Four of the Atkins Diet are participants allowed up to 120 grams of net carbohydrate daily. Low carbohydrate diets are nothing new, they have been around since the 1860s and the Atkins Diet first came out in the early 1970s.

Most nutrition experts agree that to be successful in weight loss a person needs to keep the weight off for 5 years. Over 90% of people who take weight off through a fad diet like the Atkins Diet gain the weight back in less than one year. Participants on the Atkins Diet lose between 10 to 12 pounds in the first several weeks but this is only water loss, not fat. One pound of fat contains 3500 calories. Therefore to lose 10 pounds of fat in several weeks you would need to consume 35,000 fewer calories or burn 35,000 calories more through exercise. Neither is likely to happen.

So, the best way to lose weight and become more healthy is to eat a balanced diet. Dont cut out all your carbs, but dont go overboard with them either. In addition to eating well, exercise in a proportional amount to what you are eating. Exercising too much is as bad as exercising too little.

Kelley Blue Book - A Trusted Vehicle Information Resource

Kelley Blue Book - A Trusted Vehicle Information Resource

He started distributing a want list to car dealers and banks. The list consisted of types of automobiles that he was interested in buying, along with the amount that he was willing to pay for each. As a whole, the automotive community felt that Kelleys judgment was such an accurate reflection of values that they began to request the list for their own individual use. Kelley realized that the list could provide an ongoing business opportunity and so the Kelley Blue Book was born.

First published as the Blue Book of Motor Car Values, the new guide featured the factory list price and cash value on thousands of vehicles from Cadillacs to Duesenbergs. Everyone began to recognize the value of this handy guide, including the banking and insurance industries.

After World War II, even the United States government accepted the values as fact and used the book to place a ceiling on car prices. Kelley Blue Book maintained the status of a trade publication until 1993 when a consumer edition of the book was offered. Then in 1995, the Blue Book website was launched, fueling the biggest growth in the guides history.

Today, Kelley Blue Book values are easily accessible by consumers and industry professionals alike.

To get their values, Blue Book receives information from automobile manufacturers, wholesale automobile auctions, independent auto dealers, franchised auto dealers, rental and fleet companies, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), financial institutions, and private party transactions. The final value is then determined by a proprietary editorial process. The collected data is analyzed, along with information like historical trends, industry developments, current economic conditions, seasonality, and location. The end results reflect the most up to date values.

There are several different values that are available through Kelley Blue Book. They include: New Car Blue Book Values- The New Car Blue Book Value reflects a vehicles actual selling price. This value is based on sales transactions from auto dealers across the United States.

Private Party Value- This value reflects what a consumer might expect to pay if they are purchasing a vehicle from a private party or what a seller might expect to receive from the sale of the vehicle.

Trade-In Value- This value reflects what a consumer might receive from an auto dealer when trading in a vehicle.

Suggested Retail Value (MSRP for Used Cars)- This value reflects the amount that an auto dealer might ask from consumers at an actual dealership. Lipitor And Grapefruit: A Dangerous Combination

Lipitor And Grapefruit: A Dangerous Combination

Lipitor and grapefruit can be a dangerous combination. If you are taking this cholesterol-lowering drug, it is important to learn the facts about possible interactions.

When talking with your doctor about taking lipitor grapefruit and its place in your diet should be a subject that receives consideration. Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may interact with Lipitor, leading to potentially serious complications.

Forewarned is forearmed, as the old saying goesespecially in relation to lipitor and grapefruit and what may occur. Grapefruit juice slows activity of the liver enzyme that metabolizes Lipitor. This can lead to high levels of this drug, raising the risk of rhabdomyolysis.

Rhabdomyolysis is a severe muscle reaction that can cause death. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience unexplained muscle pain or weaknessespecially if you have flu-like symptoms or a fever or any other unusual signs. These may be early warnings of muscle or liver problems.

When considering using lipitor grapefruit or any drink containing grapefruit juice should be avoided. Information sheets that accompany Lipitor detail this information.

Discuss lipitor and grapefruit with your doctor. Do not increase the amount of grapefruit you eat without talking to your practitioner first.

You can also obtain additional information from your pharmacist about possible lipitor grapefruit reactions.

Drugs such as Lipitor are used to treat and lower cholesterol but they come with a long list of serious side effects. Because of this, many people seek out natural solutions when trying to manage cholesterol levels.

Thankfully, science has come to the rescue with plant compounds that safely and effectively treat cholesterol imbalances.

Policosanol is an exciting natural substance that has been widely tested. It has outperformed statin drugs in trials. It reduces harmful LDL while raising beneficial HDL. Green tea lowers total cholesterol levels and improves the ratio of good (HDL) to bad (LDL). Vitamin E can ward off heart disease.

Other substances such as beta-sitosterol are anticholesteraemic. They reduce blood cholesterol levels and are used for treating hypercholesterolemia and coronary heart disease. Oryzanol rice bran oil contains important compounds that reduce total cholesterol and triglycerides. A substance found in orange peel oil, d-limonene, acts as a natural solvent, dissolving cholesterol gallstones.

It can be seen that there are alternatives to using statin drugs. If you are concerned about lipitor and grapefruit or other unforeseen interactions that may arise with use of this drug, it may be helpful to consult with a naturopathic practitioner for insights about workable alternatives.

Lipitor grapefruit complications do not have to be part of your cholesterol treatment scenario. Dangerous interactions can be avoided by making informed choices about your healthnow, and in the future.

If you have experienced complications related to use of lipitor and grapefruit, you may be looking for other solutions. Natural substances can aid in the process of lowering cholesterol.

The Mazda 3 Review, Best Compact Car of 2007

The Mazda 3 Review, Best Compact Car of 2007

The Mazda 3 first hit the market in 2004 and quickly established itself as one of the most fun-to-drive compact cars around, even better than its closest rivals such as the Honda Civic, Mitsubishi Lancer, Nissan Sentra and Volkswagen Rabbit. The new Mazda 3 for 2007 has been unveiled as well, with its own hot new updates.

With many of its competitors having redesigned as well, how does the 2007 Mazda 3 compare to its new, souped up competition?

For starters, let's look at how the Mazda 3 has updated itself both inside and out. The new model has added two new grilles, a squarish housing for its fog lights, new alloy wheels and more aerodynamic bumpers. It looks like the new changes were made with an eye towards greater stability. Gone are the five-spoke alloy wheels from last year's model, which a lot of people were raving about, but the new wheels aren't so bad either.

The body also looks more rigid, adding to the greater stability factor, while its suspension was tweaked a bit for better handling and greater steering response.

More good news: the new Mazda 3 still has the same two body styles as before (the four-door sedan and the five-door hatchback) and the same two engine types (the "i" model's 148 horsepower, two-liter engine and the "s" model's 156 horsepower, 2.3 liter engine). The three trim levels are back as well -- Sport, Touring and Grand Touring, but the latter is only for the "s" model. Select Mazda 3 models also have antilock brakes, and front seat and side-curtain airbags.

The Mazda 3's interiors also boast of superior new quality. The "i" models come in beige or black interiors while the "s" model comes only in black. Of course, it's not all black and comes with red and grey plastic trim. In terms of interiors, however, the Honda Civic and Nissan Sentra, seem to have a more modern design.

All Mazda 3 models for 2007 are equipped with stereos with a CD player and a jack for MP3s. Air-conditioners are optional. Power windows, locks and mirrors are available for the Touring and Grand Touring models. The Grand Touring also has leather seats, automatic headlights, climate control and rain-sensing wipers.

The area where the Mazda 3 dominates the competition is in the way it handles on the road. It's agile, responsive and superior in steering. Try driving it on curvy roads and you can easily spot the difference. CarAndDriver.com ranks the 2007 Mazda 3 as the fourth quickest car of the year, zooming from 0-to-60 miles/hour in 7.3 seconds.

Ourisman Mazda is offering the Mazda 3 $1800 below invoice from now until August 31, 2007! Visit Ourisman Mazda Maryland Car Dealership to access their online inventory now.

Dodging and Burning in Digital Photography

Dodging and Burning in Digital Photography

Dodging and Burning are essential techniques to finish off any black and white image, especially useful for atmospheric or moody images. This is a fantastic method of producing black and white Landscapes in particular. Its a fairly simple technique that requires an image editing program like Photoshop, but most good editing programs have a Dodging & Burning tool, which arent too difficult to use. In simple terms, dodging and burning is a process of improving the light (dodging) or dark (burning) areas of a black and white image (mono). You can apply this technique to pictures digital images taken in black and white, or to those taken in colour and converted to mono later. Its great for improving contrasts and producing striking areas within the picture, however its important to remember that although dodging and burning can be used to improve an image, it cannot work miracles, so your original image must be of a decent quality to begin with. We always suggest taking time to get the shot right when you take the snap. Itll make any editing easier and ultimately produce a better final image.

So how do we use the Dodging & Burning technique? Firstly open your picture in a digital editing program and find the Dodging & Burning Tool. You might like to use the programs auto contrast or one click fix button first. This may just improve your image slightly before you start the dodging and burning. Its normally a good idea to let the program balance your image first in this way.

If you are able, it will be useful be to print a copy of your image first and mark the areas you want to enhance. A paper copy is easier to work with than the on screen version. Mark the areas of the printed version that are highlights and shadow. When Dodging & Burning you are trying to increase the contrasts in the picture, so having lots of grey areas isnt the desired effect. Also do not overkill the area selections. Choose a few areas you think could be improved, but be selective. Dodging & Burning should be very subtle so use no more than 6% opacity on the brush, and be sure to use lots of sweeping strokes to keep the effect even and blended. Using large brushes helps too, around 400 to 500 diameter soft brushes are best. The opacity and brush settings are variable in all editing programs that allow dodging and burning, so dont worry if your not sure what this means. Youll spot them when you select the dodge and burn tool. Most importantly, remember to only ever dodge highlights and only ever burn mid-tones and shadows. If you try to burn highlights youll end up with a horrible dirty grey result, and dodging shadows and mid-tones only creates noise in the image, neither of which looks good.

Using the subtle settings mentioned above, apply the Dodging & Burning tool to the image ONLY on the areas you previously chose on the paper copy. Please dont get carried away with this as the final result will look harsh and artificial! Stick to the areas you chose and then once your done, print the image! Photo-paper and high quality printer settings will display your hard work best.

You may not notice too much difference..until you place your final print next to the original print. Youll be amazed at the improvement! Finally, this is a guide to standard Dodging & Burning but as with every aspect of digital photography, experiment for your self! Try different images, try different opacities and try different brush types! The more you experiment and practice, the better youll become, and the better youll be at identifying areas of images that would benefit most from a little Dodging & Burning!

Seven Ways To Control Your Calories

Seven Ways To Control Your Calories

Obesity is increasing every year. Many claim that they are eating less, especially fat than they used to, but they are now more overweight now than ever. I think the reason is because people do not pay enough attention to the amount of calories they consume daily. In reality, if you eat more calories than your body requires, you are going to gain weight.

If you cannot fit in your current pair of jeans could simply indicates that you are eating too much. In other words, you are consuming too much calories. Generally, a person only requires about 1,200 calories a day for his bodily needs. If you consume less than 1,200 calories a day, your body will presume that you are starving. This result in your body hanging onto the few calories you had consumed.

You do not have to carry your diet book and constantly referring to it. A better plan is to know the nutrition basics, listen to your body's own signals for hunger and food preferences, and develop eating habits that you can sustain for life for seven days a week.

I would like to present sensible, basic guidelines for nutritious eating. When you adopt these common-sense rules, it will help you maintain your weight and your health, at the same time, keep your taste buds interested.

Here are some tips on how your can control your intake of calories.
1. Begin to learn to eat smaller portions of food at meal times. You can always go back for more. Try to buy single-serving packages of snack foods. You are less likely to keep eating when you have to rip open a new bag of potato chips than if you have your hand buried in a bargain-sized package.

2. There is a difference between fat-free and calorie-free. Many fat-free foods are high in calories because they make up for the lost fat by adding sugar.

3. Do not deprive yourself. When you lust for ice-cream, eat a smaller cup, or else you will end up eating the whole tub.

4. Take your time to eat. Learn to enjoy the food and chew 32 times before taking another spoonful. A lot of people are eating so fast that they do not taste the food. Let your body a chance to feel full.

5. Take it easy on the booze. Alcohol stimulates your appetite and weakens your reserve. This combination can lead to some serious overeating. Try to avoid drinking alcohol or beer before a meal but sip it while you eat.

6. Stop when you are satisfied. Begin to learn to eat three quarter of what's on your plate and then take a break to assess whether you are still hungry. People often eat for reasons other than hunger, such as depression and exhaustion. Make sure that you are eating for the right reasons.

7. Eat regular meals daily. Skipping meals sets you up for losing control and overeating.

No simple plans works for everybody. How often, how much and what time of day you should eat depends on many factors and your personal preferences. Trying to figure out how to eat should not be complicated. A better plan is to know nutrition basics, and listen to your body's signal for hunger and food preferences. Then you would be able to develop habits that you can help in your weight-loss program. Your diet is also part of your health and fitness program.

Download Free Mosquito Ringtones For Cell Phone

Download Free Mosquito Ringtones For Cell Phone

Free mosquito ringtones: the cell phone ringtones that have shocked the world this year are the high-pitch mosquito ringtones famous for being the ringtones that only kids can hear.

Ringtones are the sound made by cell phones to indicate incoming calls. Modern cell phone ringtones have become extremely diverse, leading to phone personalization and customization. You can now personalize your cell phone with free mosquito ringtones.

Mosquito MP3 ringtones are very popular ringtones among teens. Indeed, high frequency mosquito ringtones can often only be heard by teenagers and younger people, but leaves most of persons over twenty years of age unaffected. The free mosquito MP3 ringtones are cell phone ringtones that are too high pitched for most adults to hear.

In fact, authentic mosquito ringtones find its origin in a technology that was originally conceived to repel loitering teens from shopping malls. The mosquito device emits a modulated sound that proves to be a great annoyance to youngsters, but leaves most over twenty years of age safe. As people age, they are less able to hear high frequency sounds, making this particular sound annoying only to teenagers or kids. Certain frequency tones especially high frequency ones are apparently undetectable to the human ear after a certain age. It is therefore some kind of ultrasonic teenager repellent.

High pitched mosquito ringtones are primarily used in the classroom, allowing those students to be alerted of incoming SMS or MMS on their cell phones without the knowledge of their teachers. But also in some public places where cell phone ringing are forbidden. It is perfect for signaling the arrival of a text message without being detected by an adult.

But cell phone users need to responsible. It is not because adults can't hear those kind of mosquito ringtones that they can feel free to get their cell phones anywhere and especially in places such as hospitals or on planes where cell phones can cause electronic interferences.

Also, as you can imagine, this "stealth technic" is not 100% perfect. You may still get caught if the teacher notices your classmates looking at you or sees an unusual behaviour from you. The teacher may certainly come to the idea you are using buzz mosquito ringtones. Some classmates may also find your official mosquito ringtones disturbing them.

Recently, Phat Tonez removed the adult-proof mosquito ringtones from sale due to waves of complaints.

There's still an alternative to downloadable mosquito ringtones for cell phones: vibrating alerts. It may always be useful in some noisy environments, not to mention for the hearing impaired that wouldn't be able to listen the alarm mosquito noise ringtones anyway.

Funny Things We Dream

Funny Things We Dream

I often wonder why I wake up so happy, ready to start the day. When I was younger I'd whack the alarm clock, for the fourth time, grumble out of bed and stomp around with a major sour puss. Now I'm up before the alarm clock most mornings, and I don't grumble, not as often as I used to anyway. I'm often anxious to see what the day will bring.

I think I've stumbled upon the reason for my early rise and my cheery outlook. My wife. Yes, she brightens up my days and has given me tremendous motivation, though she still sleeps later than I do, and she tends to grumble, though not too badly.

There's another reason, and this also involves my wife. I believe that laughter is the best medicine, and she makes me laugh. More so, I think a happy attitude is contagious, and the reason I wake up happy might be this: my wife laughs in her sleep.

I kid you not. She laughs out loud. So loud that I'm frequently awakened by her nocturnal guffaws. Sometimes it begins as a chuckle, but many times the laughter just erupts, like she just saw the funniest thing in the world. How can I help but be amused and feel happy myself when I'm treated to this many nights out of a week.

There's more... while still asleep, she tells me what she was laughing about. Here's are the most recent accounts...

One night she rolls over and begins her laughing. I wake up, and wait for her to settle down. Then I ask "What's so funny?"

I wasn't expecting a response, but to my surprise she answered me while still sound asleep. She said "Mrs. Juniper said the juniper wouldn't grow much taller than two feet, but she planted it and the damn thing took off, and it's still growing! Ha ha ha ha...." Then she began to snore again.

I shook my head, rolled over and settled in for the remainder of the night, knowing that we'd both get a kick out the story when I recalled it the following day. We did.

The most recent episode was even better, stranger. This time it seemed like I was already awake before she started laughing, maybe she had been chuckling first and that roused me. Either way, when she stopped her laughter I decided to see if she would talk again.

I asked "Okay, what's so funny this time?"

Her reply was classic. A truly original rambling by a sleeping brain. She said "Orville Redenbacher's plane wouldn't fly so they were trying to hang Orville Redenbacher's plane over the bed by a string. Ha ha ha ha...." Then she conked out.

Again I shook my head, rolled over and anticipated the break of day, when I would share the tale from her sleeping brain with her alert brain. I couldn't wait to see her reaction.

I ask you, being a natural marvel, capable of great intellect, doesn't the human brain have better things to think about? The mechanics of slumbering gray matter perplex me.

Why she laughs in her sleep I don't know, but I'm glad she does. I'm happily married, and I assure you, that will never change!

I'm looking forward to more of her one liners from la-la-land. Can there be more? I'll keep you posted. Heck, if I collect enough maybe I'll write a book!

That's all for now. From my funny little spot in the universe, I bid you well.

Over and out.

Wedding Ring Sets - Things to Know Before You Buy

Wedding Ring Sets - Things to Know Before You Buy

Are you shopping for a wedding ring set? With so many options from traditional and online jewelry shops it might be difficult to decide what ring set would suit you the most. There are several factors you need to consider searching through wedding ring sets to find the best one for you. Wedding ring set styles

To decide on the style first think if you are going to wear your ring set every day. If so, it should not only be beautiful but practical. The style should be elegant enough to go with most of your cloth. What wedding ring set styles are available to you? Most popular is a set that consists of a classical ring with a single diamond and a ring with channel set diamonds. But there are other possibilities. If you like something more elaborate think of engraved style or a beaded edge style. There are also vintage wedding ring sets and Celtic style bands.

The best way to find a style you like is to visit a big online wedding ring shop. Don't mind the prices for now, just look at different ring set styles they offer and see what you like the most.

Choosing the right metal for your ring

After deciding on the style, you will have to make up your mind about the material for your ring set. Here you have a choice of gold, white or yellow, platinum and titanium. But even before you go for a particular material asks yourself do you want a yellow wedding ring set or a white set? If you want yellow, than your only choice is traditional gold. White wedding rings are becoming more popular in recent years, because they look more modern and easier to match with any cloth. Think of the other jewelry you own and wear often, will white or gold go with most of it?

Also think of how much you can afford to spend on your ring set. Most expensive is not necessarily the best. If you go for a cheaper metal, you can have a set with bigger, better quality diamond.

Gold wedding ring sets

Yellow gold wedding ring set is the easiest to find. Yellow is traditional and also it has that warm feeling that is associated with marriage. When looking for traditional gold sets most people think that more carats (more pure the gold) the better. This is not always true. Gold is a very soft metal, and 24 carats gold ring can get scratches easily. For the purpose of durability 14 carats gold ring sets are the most popular, but if you want more pure gold, 19 carat is a good balance between purity and durability of your ring.

Platinum wedding rings and ring sets

Platinum is an excellent material if you can afford it. Platinum rings have a whiny white look and last forever without a single scratch. Platinum doesn't come in carats because the metal used in jewelry is pure and not mixed with any other metals.

Titanium ring sets

Titanium ring set is another option. Titanium doesn't shine as much as platinum or white gold, but it has a stylish modern look, it is very durable and not as expensive as platinum. Titanium wedding ring sets are not as widely available as ones from other metals, so you will have to do a special search online for them.

If you decide on the style, price range and material for your wedding ring set in advance, it will be much easier to find a perfect set. You can look at different jewelry stores and department stores. Actually department stores often have wedding ring sets on sale, so you can get a good deal. If you don't find anything suitable locally, search for your ring set online. There a hundreds of jewelry shops online, they offer great selection or rings and the prices are usually better than in traditional shops.
